Our competition is specifically focused on opera: there won’t be any chamber or folk music, just operatic repertoire.
But it’s competitions of this sort that help the most in getting young singers roles in major theaters – a difficult task, particularly in our times. Such competitions naturally represent a real trial for the singer: opera is a synthetic genre, and the jury will be evaluating not only the voices and vocal technique, but one’s artistry, stage presence and musicality as well.
For an opera singer, every appearance on the stage brings not only much pleasure, but much anxiety as well. This will be especially true for the participants in our operatic “examination.” But I hope you’ll pass the test with the highest marks. You surely have something to strive for: our laureates are already singing on the stages of Russian and European theaters.
